Generation BEST team compete for Young Local Authority of the Year

Last updated 18th March 2010

Generation BEST members Dharmendra Singh and Jetendra Singh have travelled to Lancaster to represent Birmingham at the Young Local Authority of the Year competition.

The prestigious annual event allows teams to test their public speaking skills by delivering an argument on an issue of current interest or controversy

Dharmendra, from the Adults and Communities directorate and Jetendra from Development will be competing against 42 other young teams from councils across the country to defend the title won last year by Birmingham’s Catherine Poyner and Paul Lowney.

The team will tackle the topic of terrorism during their six minute presentation, investigating what threat is posed and our national response to it. The judges will be looking for skilful use of language, maturity of thought and a lively presentation.

We wish our team the very best of luck for the competition. Watch this space for an update on how they got on!
